Flowering Delay in Flue-cured Tobacco Infected with Meloidogyne Species.

چکیده
Some forage grasses such as Great Basin wild ryegrass and Nordan standard crested wheatgrass are economically important because of their adaptation to grazing and environmental stress. These tests show that these forage grasses are hosts of M. chitwoodi. As reported for other Meloidogyne species (7), infection by M. chitwoodi may increase host sensitivity to drought by obliterating, compressing, or interrupting the host vascular system. The frequency of resistant plants within the species tested suggests, however, that it should be possible to obtain resistant germplasm of most of the grasses studied. Meloidogyne chitwoodi appears to be widespread in the Pacific northwest on several economically important crops, but no attempt has yet been made to determine the incidence of this nematode on native plants. Infested irrigation and run off water may be involved in the dissemination of this nematode in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington where canal and river water is usually reused (5).

nematicide, D-D(1,2-dichloropropane1,3dichloropropene), resulted in the greatest flowering with the controls giving the lowest (Table 2). The less effective nematicide, ethoprop (O-ethyl S,S-dipropyl phosphorodithioate), had an intermediate effect on flowering. In these tests, flowering was positively correlated with yield and negatively related to soil nematode populations and root-gall indice...
متن کاملEffect of Topping Height and Timing on Quantity and Quality Influe-Cured Tobacco (Var.K326)
One of the most important practices in flue-cured tobacco farming is topping and sucker control at the right time. Topping cause's development and root growth, drought tolerance, reduce deployment pests, increased synthesis of nicotine. This study was conducted in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with 10 treatments in 3 replications over two years (2008-2009) at Tirtash research and educ...

متن کاملManaging Root-knot on Tobacco in the Southeastern United States.
Root-knot nematodes suppress yields of flue-cured tobacco an estimated 0.1 to 4.8% annually in the southeastern United States, even though nematode management practices have been widely adopted. Although Meloidogyne incognita races 1 and 3 have predominated, M. arenaria, M. javanica, and M. incognita races 2 and 4 are increasingly important. Seventy-five percent of the flue-cured tobacco hectar...
متن کاملInterrelationships of Meloidogyne Species with Flue-cured Tobacco.
Microplot and field experiments were conducted to determine relationships of population densities of Meloidogyne spp. to performance of flue-cured tobacco. A 3-yr microplot study of these interactions involved varying initial nematode numbers (P(i)).and use of ethoprop to re-establish ranges of nematode densities. Field experiments included various nematicides at different locations. Regression...
